Mon 15 Nov 1886 reads, "Special services were held in the Primitive Methodist Church on Sunday, November 1, to celebrate the opening of the church, when the Rev. Mr Madson preached the morning and afternoon services to large congregations. The Church is now in private hands.

The opening Ceremony was conducted by his Grace Archbishop Carr.* The church was of brick construction with freestone dressings and measured 45 feet x 25 feet.
